Our model | Enhanced supported living

Northern Healthcare provide 24-hour specialist clinical care and support for people living with a mental health diagnosis or learning disability. The people we care for may have more than one diagnosis, and our comprehensive support plans are tailored to the needs of each individual.

We provide safe environments for our residents to rebuild their skills & independence. Residents are supported by a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals, with input from a Registered Mental Health Nurse, an Occupational Therapist & 24/7 support.

 

 

 

How we can help

Our referral process has been temporarily refined to facilitate ‘rapid referrals’ for individuals in acute hospital settings, and to help those in the community at this time of crisis:

  • Assessments are transitioning to a paper-based review and phone consultation with our clinical team
  • Low cost, short term support & tenancies are available from today
  • Services based in the North West, Yorkshire & the Midlands.
  • Residents can be referred for an initial assessment period (up to 12 weeks). Reviewed & extended as required

The people we can support

  • Aged 18+ with the ability and willingness to engage in a recovery or social inclusion programme
  • All our services accept male or female residents
  • We can support people with a diagnosed mental illness, mild learning disability or autistic spectrum disorder (may have dual diagnosis).
  • Can be on section 17 leave or if on forensic MHA section, on extended leave if approved by MOJ.

Amy Johnson House opened in 2019, the building in the heart of Hull city centre has been transformed into an 18 bedded enhanced supported living accommodation.

Holland House | Preston

Address: 4 Mount Street, Preston, PR1 8BS

Holland House offers contemporary living in the heart of Preston. The building has been designed to offer individuals their own spacious ensuite studio with access to a range of communal living areas.

Tenby House | Barrow-in-Furness

Address: 286 Abbey Road, Barrow, LA13 9JN

Once home to the hairy bikers, Tenby House offers residents a homely environment to live in and is located in a historic part of Cumbria, Barrow-in-Furness. The Edwardian building offers a spacious shared kitchen and lovely lounge area for our residents to enjoy.

 

Helena’s House | Huyton

Address: 6 Roby Road, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 4HE

Helena’s House is located in the heart of Huyton. A Victorian property which has been sympathetically developed to retain its character, but to also offer our residents a modern, spacious environment to live in.

Hyde Park | Wakefield

Address: 15 Hyde Park, Wakefield, WF1 4ET

Placed in the heart of the community in Wakefield, Hyde Park House offers 15 contemporary bedrooms across 2 floors. With a communal kitchen and family room area, our residents have a spacious environment to live in.

Merchants House | Shipley

Address: 1-7 Leeds Road, Shipley, BD18  1BP

Located in Shipley, Merchant House has been transformed into a modern living space containing 25 self-contained 1  bedroom flats. This location also offers a shared kitchen and lounge area, offering individuals a contemporary and spacious environment to live in.

 

What are the next steps?

We are still in a time of uncertainty, but we can assure you that Northern Healthcare will do all we can to provide a safe and reassuring environment for the people in our care with 24-hour support from our multi-disciplinary team.
Transitioning to a new care environment, especially in times of uncertainty can be stressful; whether an individual stays in our care for the longer term, temporarily extends their stay or moves-on following their placement, we will be there to support them every step of the way.

 

Submitting a Rapid Referral

There is increasing pressure on the NHS and health and social care services due to the outbreak of COVID-19. We have always worked in close partnership with health and social care professionals to provide the very best care to our residents, and we always will.

Our team can further support you by helping the people in your care to avoid a hospital-based setting, at a time when the NHS is facing immense pressure.

We of course are facing these challenges together, but we believe we have the processes and the core clinical care team in place to enable us as a 24-hour mental health service to do more.
