Modern slavery can take place in a wide range of employment sectors, including health and social care. People using health and social care services may also be victims of modern slavery or human trafficking. As a Health and Social Care organisation Northern Healthcare has a role in identifying victims of modern slavery and human trafficking who come to them for care or treatment.
We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We expect the same high standards from all of our internal and external partners and suppliers, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and we expect that our partners will hold their own business relationships to the same high standards.
This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, managers, officers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, agents, contractors, external consultants, third-party representatives and business partners.
This policy does not form part of any employee’s contract of employment and we may amend it at any time.
Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, which could result in dismissal for misconduct or gross misconduct. We may terminate our relationship with other individuals and organisations working on our behalf if they breach this policy.
We are committed to improving awareness of the practices necessary to combat slavery and human trafficking and to continually assess the risk profile of our business in these areas.
Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking policy reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place.
Everyone in the firm is encouraged to report any concerns regarding slavery and/or human trafficking in accordance with our whistleblowing and safeguarding policy.
