Northern Healthcare Awards 2022 Winners

We had a fantastic response with over 400 nominations for the Northern Healthcare Awards 2022 and many examples of how our team members go above and beyond each day to support our residents and each other. Our Directors and Senior Management Team had the difficult decision of choosing our winners. A huge thank you to everyone who submitted nominations and congratulations to our Northern Healthcare Awards 2022 winners:

Administrator of the Year – Sophie Parker, Hyde Park House

Our Business Administrators are key members to the smooth running of our services and are often involved not only in administrative functions but also act as a support to our wider team members. Sophie was presented with her award by Ashley Mancey-Johnson, Managing Director: “Sophie has been recognized by friends, by colleagues, residents and external professionals for doing a fantastic job as a Businesss Administrator. Sophie consistently goes above and beyond not only doing her job as Business Administrator but also getting involved in supporting other departments from across the business and helping with different projects across the organisation.”

Best Practice Initiative of the Year – Merchants House

Sharing best practice across our services is vital to enhance our residents’ experiences and it enables us to learn from our colleagues. Sometimes it can be the small things that an individual team member has put into practice to support a resident and sometimes it’s grand ideas that impact the whole service for the better. Merchants House were recognised for implementing the “Safety Huddles”, Dawn Cropper, Clinical Development Director comments: “The first service to implement the Safety Huddle was Merchants House which has then been rolled out and replicated right across the whole organisation. The Safety Huddles have had a significant impact on ensuring risks are managed effectively, all staff are fully supported and the Senior Management team and Exec team have oversight of things happening right across the service.”

Clinician of the Year – Bethany Orr, Hyde Park House

We asked our team to nominate a standout Nurse or OT who uses their clinical practice to enhance resident experiences and who shares their knowledge across the team to drive improvements in overall service. Bethany Orr was presented with the award for the second year running! Dawn Cropper, Clinical Development Director was delighted to present Beth with her award: “Beth has received amazing feedback from colleagues. Beth consistently goes above and beyond to ensure residents have access to the support they need. Beth is well-liked by all colleagues and builds excellent relationships with the residents. Beth has a fantastic work ethic and always has a can-do attitude.”

Going Above and Beyond – Helen Barker, Glen Garth House

This category was open to anyone, from any role, who has shown an extraordinary commitment to their role and should be recognised for continually going above and beyond their duties. Helen Barker was recognised for her dedication to supporting residents and team members from across Northern Healthcare services. Helen was presented with her award by Daniel Flaherty, Finance Director: “Over the course of the year, Helen has consistently gone above and beyond for Northern Healthcare no matter what we throw at her. Helen is a really committed and supportive member of the Northern Healthcare team and this has been regonised by residents, staff and especially us in the Exec team for all the help that she’s given. Thank you Helen for the commitment you’ve shown to us over the course of the year.”

Head Office Star – Patrice Mallon, HO

There are a lot of people behind the scenes helping our residents and empowering our keyworker colleagues. This award recognises a colleague from Head Office who has made a difference to Northern Healthcare, consistently going above and beyond in their role. Patrice Mallon, Senior Quality and Compliance Administrator is our winner, as a key contact for our services Patrice is always on hand to help and has been recognised by her colleagues for her dedication. Patrice was presented with her award by Daniel Flaherty, Finance Director:: “It gives me great pleasure to announce the winner of this year’s Head Office Star is Patrice Mallon. I’m really pleased to be giving this award to Patrice as she’s a great example of what can be achieved at Northern Healthcare when somebody’s given the opportunity to prove themselves. Patrice really provides a lot of support to many colleagues across the business. She’s gone from strength to strength in her new role as Governance Administrator, she’s hardworking, efficient and a really well-respected member of the Head Office team.”

Rising Star – Ahmed Khattab, Holland House

Ahmed has shown his commitment to  Northern Healthcare with his dedication to our residents and the wider team. Ahmed was presented with his award by Ashley Mancey-Johnson, Managing Director: “Ahmed has been recognised for his professionalism, for the support that he provides to the residents, the encouragement that he gives to the residents, and for always having a calm approach to everything that he does. Ahmed’s done a fantastic job of engaging residents in one-to-one activities and motivating them to get involved in things that are happening around the house.”

Support Worker of the Year – Jade Gadd, Grainger House

Our Support Workers are our stars who go above and beyond each day. We know the role is not always easy and we thank all our Support Workers for their hard work and dedication. For this category, we were looking for someone who goes the extra mile each day to create amazing resident experiences and strives to personalise support delivery. Jade was presented with her award by Anthea Gribbin, HR Director: “Jade goes above and beyond her role as a Support Worker. Each and every day she shows her commitment and dedication. She is kind, person-centred and generally has a solid understanding of her role as Support Worker.” Jade received several nominations from her team and residents. Well done to Jade, our ‘Support Worker of the Year’.

Team Leader of the Year – Lauren Greenwood, Hyde Park House

We were looking for a Team Leader who always ensures residents’ support needs are met, who leads by example, shares their knowledge with their team members to promote their development, and who manages their team and encourages them to make a difference. Lauren was presented with her award by Anthea Gribbin, HR Director: “Lauren Greenwood has gone above and beyond the role and shown incredible support to the residents. She leads by example, ensuring everyone is performing in their role.”

Team Player of the Year – Kim Taylor, Montgomery House

As this category was open to any role within Northern Healthcare we received many nominations. Kim was recognised for her positive attitude and consistently going above and beyond to help their team. Congratulations to Kim!

Kim was presented with her award by Daniel Flaherty, Finance Director: “It’s been really well recognised on the PROUD cards how Kim consistently demonstrates the company’s values and also creates a really good team environment at Montgomery House.”

Values Champion (Individual) – Clare Sudders, Holland House

Clare was consistently recognised month-on-month for displaying the Northern Healthcare values and supporting her team, Anthea Gribbin, HR Director presented Clare with her award: “It goes to Clare for supporting the residents and the dedication that she shows the residents to achieve their goals, as well as supporting her fellow colleagues during the pandemic by picking up extra shifts. Clare demonstrates her values every day, installing them in new starters as well as demonstrating respect for residents, and dedication to her job as a Support Worker. Well done Clare.”

Values Champions (Service) – Helena’s House

Ashley Mancey-Johnson, Managing Director: “Throughout the last year that we’ve been collecting feedback through the values submission cards, Helena’s House has had an overwhelming response from both residents, staff members and external professionals. A huge well done to the Helena’s House team and thank you so much for living and displaying the Northern Healthcare PROUD values.”
