When did you join Northern Healthcare?

I joined Northern Healthcare 3 years ago as a Support Worker and then I progressed to the role of Occupational Therapy Assistant and then to Business Administrator.

What are your main responsibilities within your role?

The main responsibilities in my role include supporting the Service Manager, managing finances such as petty cash, ensuring all documentation is stored securely following GDPR, ensuring the building is safe by reporting any maintenance issues, and supporting the Service Manager with payroll tasks and rota management to ensure staff are paid correctly.

What attracted you to apply to join the Northern Healthcare team?

I studied Criminology with Psychology in University which inspired me to want to work in mental health. I decided to apply for Northern Healthcare as the company’s values and support model appealed to me.

Can you describe a typical day in your role?

A typical day in my role includes checking rotas and staffing for the coming weeks, adding any sickness and annual leave to the attendance tracker, topping up petty cash, completing the petty cash tracker and uploading receipts, completing cash counts with the Service Manager, reporting any maintenance issues that may arise, and ordering any stationary or cleaning products we may need.

What are the challenges?

I enjoy being challenged and often help others out with their workload in order to keep busy. If anything unexpected comes up I then have to organise my time to make sure everything is completed on time to a high standard.

What do you like most about your role?

I enjoy still making time for the residents during the week and doing activities with them such as scrabble, sensory hour or walking group.

Please let us know about a standout memory from your time at Northern Healthcare:

Completing the 21 mile walk with a resident from Hyde Park House to raise money for a new pool table. The resident was very positive and thankful for everyone’s kindness and generosity throughout the whole walk, this was lovely to see.

If you could describe your role in 3 words what would they be?

I would describe my role as engaging, interesting, and rewarding.

How did it feel to be nominated and win a Northern Healthcare award?

I felt proud of myself and happy that I had been recognised for my work.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining Northern Healthcare?

I would highly recommend joining Northern Healthcare. The directors, head office staff, and staff in all of the services are very friendly and welcoming. Everyone I have met over the last 3 years has been very approachable, and everyone shares the same values which makes it a really nice working environment.
