At Northern Healthcare, our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy is more than a framework - it’s a reflection of our PROUD values and a vital part of delivering high-quality, person-centred supported living.
As a specialist supported living provider, we recognise that sustainability, inclusion, and ethical governance are essential to creating environments where individuals can truly thrive. The decisions we make today not only shape our services but also directly impact the long-term wellbeing of the people we support, their communities, and our planet. That’s why we’re proud to lead by example - putting people at the heart of every decision we make.
Our ESG strategy is built around three key pillars: Environmental Responsibility, Social Impact and Inclusion, and Strong Governance and Accountability. Together, these pillars guide our journey as a supported living provider toward becoming a more responsible organisation, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact across all our supported living services through targeted, data-driven actions:
Carbon Footprint Reduction: Actively tracking emissions and implementing changes to lower energy usage, including energy-efficient systems and behavioural change campaigns.
ESOS Compliance: In 2024 we participated in the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme, with a goal to reduce energy consumption by over 70,000 kWh.
Green Initiatives: Our sustainability efforts include waste minimisation through recycling and digital systems, promoting greener transport options like carpooling and electric vehicles, reducing food and organic waste through allotments and composting, and investing in carbon offset projects alongside pollution prevention measures.
These actions directly support healthier, more sustainable environments for those supported by our services.

As a supported living provider, our people-first approach means promoting mental and physical wellbeing, professional development, and inclusive growth for both our team members and the individuals we support.
Employee Wellbeing: Flexible working, employee assistance programs, and wellbeing funds.
Diversity & Inclusion: Equal opportunities for all, supported by policies that promote gender pay transparency and fair treatment.
Community Engagement: We actively support our communities through volunteer programs, fundraising for charities such as Mind, and collaborating on local initiatives in education, health, and environmental sustainability.
Training & Development: Continuous learning through workshops, apprenticeships, and our new Future Leaders Programme.
All these initiatives enhance the quality of life for those in our care and strengthen the communities we support.
