When did you join Northern Healthcare?

I joined Northern Healthcare in July 2019 as a Bank Support Worker.

What are your main responsibilities within your role?

To work alongside the Quality and Governance Clinical Lead to support the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care through the provision of advice; offer support within the area of responsibility and clinical governance; advise on resident safety, clinical audit, and clinical risk; and strive for continuous quality improvement through education, empowerment, and leadership.

My team and I ensure services are meeting regulatory requirements whilst driving for outstanding across the organisation.

What attracted you to apply to join the Northern Healthcare team?

At first when I applied it was just a ‘job’ whilst completing my diploma in Childcare. However, when I started, I knew this was for me and it changed my career path. The flexibility, the growth, the progression, the positive outcomes for residents.

Can you describe a typical day in your role?

There is no ‘typical’ day in my role, each day varies massively depending on the needs of the services. It could involve training, feedback, audits, inspections, clinical governance – every day is different.

What are the challenges?

Time, there is not enough time in a day to complete everything that you want to do!

What do you like most about your role?

It’s diverse, it’s creative and flexible, and there’s ongoing learning opportunities. I am also surrounded by supportive colleagues.

Please let us know about a standout memory from your time at Northern Healthcare:

There have been so many standout memories since starting at Northern Healthcare, I think the most heart-warming moments are when we see residents move on from Northern Healthcare into the community, to see how much progress they have made is really great.

If you could describe your role in 3 words what would they be?

Busy, flexible, creative.

How did it feel to be nominated and win a Northern Healthcare award?

It’s nice to be recognised for the work I do for the team and wider organisation, I was honoured to be nominated by my colleagues.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining Northern Healthcare?

If you want something different each day that is highly rewarding, then I would apply.
