When did you join Northern Healthcare?

I joined the Northern Healthcare team in November 2019.

What are your main responsibilities within your role?

My main responsibilities include supporting residents with daily activities, taking residents to appointments, job interviews, and supporting them with shopping.

Every Monday I take two of our residents to the bank, and then we go food shopping. Each day I also support residents with a range of different activities. Their favourite activity is pool, they really enjoy having pool tournaments.

What attracted you to apply to join the Northern Healthcare team?

I had heard really good things about Northern Healthcare which motivated me to apply. I have been working as a Support Worker since 2015 and I wanted to continue with a role in this industry. Northern Healthcare really appealed to me because of their model of support for residents. We have a clinical support team with Support Workers, Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Nurses who provide 24/7 support to our residents.

What do you like most about your role and what are the challenges?

I really enjoy supporting our residents and taking them out for activities. My most favourite thing is seeing our residents happy.

As I have been a Support Worker for a number of years now, I have learnt to adapt and remain calm in all situations. I love the role and I love supporting the residents to be as independent as possible. I don’t like to say that situations are challenging as I really love the job and I thrive on working to find a solution to any situation.

Please let us know about a standout memory from your time at Northern Healthcare.

A standout memory for me is a time when I helped one resident to prepare for a job interview. I then supported the resident to the interview. Although they didn’t land the role, it was great experience for them, and we reflected on what went well and what they could do better to prepare for any more interviews.

What would you say to someone thinking of joining Northern Healthcare?

I would definitely encourage them to apply, Northern Healthcare is a great company to work for. I have been here for 3 years now and I have really enjoyed my time here so far.
