We work closely with housing providers across Cumbria, the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands, and those relationships are central to how we achieve our outcomes. Over time, we’ve built strong, reliable partnerships that show up in the practical things that matter: smooth service openings, well-run homes, and recognition of quality at a national level. A lot of what works well comes down to doing things together properly, from the start.
That begins early on, when we’re planning new services. We work with providers to agree suitable properties and make sure there’s a shared understanding of what’s needed. From there, we put clear referral and move-in processes in place, and keep communication open once people have moved in.
Housing providers remain responsible for the tenancy, property standards, compliance and repairs. Our role is to provide consistent, person-centred care and support that helps people settle, stay well, and maintain their tenancies.
We also keep information flowing in a proportionate and timely way, especially where there are risks or tenancy concerns, so issues can be dealt with quickly and appropriately. That shared approach helps people stay safe, maintain their independence, and get the right support when they need it.
At the heart of it all is teamwork. The outcomes we achieve don’t happen in isolation; they come from strong relationships, shared responsibility, and a genuine commitment to making supported living work in practice.
Moss Lodge marked its first anniversary with an afternoon of celebrations, bringing together team members, people we support, families and health and social care professionals to reflect on a successful first year since opening in March 2024. The event celebrated the dedication of the team and the inspiring progress of those supported, while also raising £136 for Andy’s Man Club, a charity nominated by one of the people we support. The milestone highlighted the strong sense of community at Moss Lodge and its growth into a warm, inclusive and empowering environment, made possible through the commitment of staff, support from partners and families, and the achievements of the individuals who call it home.
Colleagues from across Northern Healthcare joined local partners and stakeholders to celebrate the official opening of Saxon House, our newest supported living service in Bury. Designed to promote independence, recovery and long-term wellbeing for people with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities, the service is already making a positive impact, with guests touring the building, meeting the team and hearing about its early successes. The event highlighted Saxon House as a strong example of person-centred, partnership working between Northern Healthcare, Bury Council and the wider community, reflecting a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, life-changing support. This commitment was further recognised at the LaingBuisson Awards 2025, where Northern Healthcare was nominated in the Public Private Partnership category, further highlighting our outstanding relationship with Bury Council.
Over 18 months, Holland House and Lancashire County Council successfully delivered a Step Down and Crisis Support programme that enabled 41 individuals to move from hospital into the community. The partnership provided six temporary supported living placements, offering up to twelve weeks of tailored support focused on recovery, stability and independence. Through a person-centred and flexible approach, individuals were supported to secure long-term accommodation, build essential life skills and manage their recovery with confidence, alongside 24/7 background support and regular one-to-one sessions. The majority progressed to supported tenancies, housing association placements or returned to family and friends, demonstrating strong outcomes and the impact of effective, collaborative working.
Northern Healthcare were named finalists at the HealthInvestor Awards 2026, recognising our continued commitment to delivering high-quality specialist mental health supported living services. The nomination highlights our strong outcomes, innovative approach to care and focus on helping people live more independently within the community. Being shortlisted reflects the dedication of colleagues across the organisation and its ongoing work with partners to provide safe, supportive environments that enable individuals to progress in their recovery and achieve positive, long-term outcomes.
