    Supported Living Bury

    Montgomery House in Bury, Greater Manchester is an enhanced 24/7 supported living service providing specialist care for adults with a primary mental health diagnosis. The service also supports adults with learning disabilitiesautism and associated conditions.

    Montgomery House has 17 fully ensuite bedrooms within a uniquely designed building. The fantastic shared kitchen and lounge areas offer contemporary and spacious living.

    Located close to the centre of Radcliffe, there is easy access to shops, local amenities and public transport.

    Northern Healthcare’s clinically informed model promotes stability, recovery, and increased independence within a structured and therapeutic environment. Our specialist clinical nursing team work alongside highly skilled and compassionate support teams to enable us to provide responsive and individualised care and support.

    The team provide 24/7 support for people with a variety of mental health conditions. The people we support come to us from a number of different pathways; they may require greater ‘step-down’ support following a period in an acute hospital or forensic service. Our experienced team help the people we support to achieve their next steps, from tasks such as cooking and budgeting to longer-term goals such as gaining employment.

    Referral Criteria

    • Male & female adults, aged 18+ who are willing to engage in recovery & social inclusion.
    • Can be on section 17 leave or if on forensic MHA section, on extended leave if approved by MOJ
    • On admission individuals must be stable on their current medication & medically fit.
    • We can support people with a diagnosed mental illness, mild learning disability or autistic spectrum disorder.

    What’s life like at Montgomery House?

    We have lots of laughs here at Montgomery House. We seize any opportunity to bring our team and the people we support together; whether we are staying in and taking part in a fitness class, cooking club or gardening, or if we are going out together to the theatre, local park or even to sit in the Britain’s Got Talent audience!

    We are very well situated for exploring the Greater Manchester area. It is only a 5-minute walk to Market Street Metrolink which takes you to Manchester city centre in under 40 minutes. Bolton can also be reached by bus in just over 30 minutes. For home birds we have everything you might need locally, Coronation Park is just 2 minutes away, a short walk across the River Irwell individuals can access local supermarkets, health care services and essential shops – all in under 10-minutes’ walk.

    We encourage the people we support to be actively involved in our monthly service meeting, where we come together to share feedback and new ideas.

      Support Story | Ashley – Montgomery House

      Ashley, a 33-year-old with paranoid schizophrenia, began his recovery at Montgomery House in December 2022 after being referred from a secure hospital. With support from the team, he worked on building confidence, social skills, and daily routines.

      Over time, Ashley became an active, supportive member of the community, even completing his first Race for Life and earning recognition as a finalist in the Northern Healthcare Awards. In 2025, he successfully moved into his own flat, marking a major step toward independent living and continued recovery.
